Below is a summary of group-use accounts available through UConn. Below is a summary of who may be given a UConn account, how that account is obtained, and what that account includes. For individuals accounts see here.
Who: UConn departments or other groups where multiple people need to send and receive mail from a shared email account. All users will need a full Office365 account (faculty, staff, or student worker – normal student 365 accounts will not work).
How: Action Required 1-2 BUSINESS DAYS in advance. Email email@example.com with the requested email address and the email addresses of the people who will need access – for student workers this should be the firstname.lastname@example.org. If an equivalent shared mailbox used to exist on the engineering mail server, include the old address (these are typically migrated from email@example.com to firstname.lastname@example.org).
What: A shared email address, no login ID. Each user will use his or her own credentials (faculty & staff use email@example.com, students use a student worker account) to access the mailbox.
Who: Conference rooms and equipment previously reserved using Outlook calendars.
How: Action Required 1-2 BUSINESS DAYS in advance. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a room mailbox, which can be used to manage the schedule for either rooms or equipment.
What: An Office365 room mailbox, including a calendar. Booking can be controlled in two ways:
- Restrict users who can send meeting requests to the room/ equipment in question. Other users who try to send invites will be rejected automatically.
- Create a moderated mailbox, where designated user(s) can accept, reject, or change events.
